Las Vegas, Nev.—The third time is a charm for Station Casinos, Inc. (“Station” or the “Company”; NYSE: STN) who ranked #18 on FORTUNE Magazine’s 10th annual “100 Best Companies to Work For.” Station Casinos made tremendous strides over last year’s 55th ranking to earn 18th place overall and continues to be the only gaming corporation to be selected for this prestigious honor. This is the third year in a row the Company has been selected by FORTUNE as one of the best companies to work for.
Further enhancing the honor of being chosen as one of the best companies to work for was the Company’s ranking in a number of important categories:
“Much of our company’s success comes from our team members, they are our greatest asset”, said Frank Fertitta III, Station’s chairman and CEO. “My brother Lorenzo and I are proud that FORTUNE magazine continues to recognize the core values our family set forth 30 years ago to treat our team members the way we would want to be treated.”
"We are at the top of our game and have a huge responsibility to stay there for the good of all our team members who are not afraid to show their love for others, whether it be out in our community or within our Station family,” said Valerie Murzl, Station’s vice president of human resources. “It is the power of our team members united together embracing our culture that produces the results of this FORTUNE recognition."
According to FORTUNE magazine "The 100 Best Companies to Work For" list is compiled for FORTUNE by Robert Levering and Milton Moskowitz of the Great Place to Work Institute in San Francisco. As part of the most extensive employee survey in corporate America, more than 105,000 employees from 446 companies responded to a 57-question survey. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the survey, which is sent to a minimum of 400 randomly selected employees from each company and asks about things such as attitudes toward management, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The remaining third of the score comes from their evaluation of each company’s responses to the institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about demographic makeup, pay, and benefits programs, and open-ended questions about the company’s people-management philosophy, internal communications, opportunities, compensation practices, diversity programs, etc.
About 1,500 companies contacted the Great Place to Work Institute or were recruited to participate.
The list appears in the January 22 issue of FORTUNE, available on newsstands January 15 and now available online at www.Fortune.com.
